Ahead of today’s Formula Challenge round, here’s a look back on the race in Silverstone.
It was a home race for both of our drivers, Chris Shepherd and Adrian Campfield. Both drivers had a good qualifiying, with Chris setting the fastest lap by 0.001 seconds ahead of Matthew Williams and Adrian finishing the session in fifth place. Unfortunately, Adrian had to serve a penalty from last race, which meant that he would start further down the grid.
Race 1: Adrian started the first race from 21st position. On the Wellington Straight, he already was in P17, but spun in the following Brooklands Corner when he tried to pass Delgado and rejoined the race in P25. He quickly regained some positions, only to lose them when he had another spin in the final chicane. In the following laps, Adrian was able to overtake several drivers, and by lap 9 he was in 24th place. The last two laps were action packed for Adrian, as he was able to first overtake Beavis, Comley and Browning and then beat David Jundt to the finishing line.
Chris had a quiet, but very successful first race. Starting from Pole, he had a very good start and after having to defend his position in Lap 1, remained in the lead unchallenged to win the race in dominating style ahead of Chris Butcher.
Race 2: Adrian started the second race in P17. However, he became the victim of a T1 Crash and headed to the pits after the first lap to retire the car.
Chris started from tenth position. On lap 4, he was able to pass his Championship rival Chris Butcher and was now in P7. Later that lap he gained two additional positions. On lap 9, he attacked Choda, but both drivers made contact and ran wide, loosing a couple of positions in the process. Three laps later, Leonov and Scott had an incident and Chris moved up to P4. Unfortunately, shortly afterwards Williams lost control of his car and crashed into Chris, who rejoined and finished the race in P11.
There was no change in the standings after the British Round. We are still second in the Teams’ Championship behind Red Arrow Racing and ahead of Cenobite Motorsports. Chris Butcher is still leading the Drivers’ Championship ahead of Chris Shepherd. Adrian Campfield ist currently tenth in the standings.
The next round of the season will be held in Germany today. As always, you can find the broadcast and the results tables of the last round below.
